Don’t get left out, we need you to opt in – GDPR27 April 2018 What is GDPR and what will it mean for you? The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) is a regulation by which the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission intend to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union (EU). The GDPR is clear that an indication of consent must be unambiguous and involve a clear affirmative action (an opt-in). It requires all organisations to keep clear records to demonstrate that consent has been given and this includes NRAS. Shortly, you will be receiving a communication from NRAS by post or by email, depending on your current preferences which will ask you to opt-in. Why is opting-in so important? If you don’t opt-in, after 25th May, we will no longer be able to contact you about the things you want to hear about. Your involvement with NRAS enables us to continue to achieve lasting positive outcomes for those living with RA and JIA. Don’t forget to send your GDPR opt-in form back to NRAS as soon as you can so we can continue to stay in touch with you and you don’t miss out on what could be vitally important to you, your health and the future of rheumatology care.
