JIA AW was launched in 2022 in order to raise awareness of the condition by educating and informing friends, family and the general population about what juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is and the affect it can have on people’s lives.  Our previous campaigns #SameJIADifferentDay (2022) and #BustingJIAMyths (2023) proved to be a huge success thanks to the involvement of so many of the JIA community, and this year we hope to make it even bigger and spread the word even further!

This year’s campaign, #ThisIsJIA, aims to raise awareness of how JIA, although a disease diagnosed during childhood, can impact those affected by the disease in so many different ways, at varying stages of life. We are going to be sharing the stories of children, young people, parents, adults, siblings and indeed anyone affected by JIA on our website and across our social media platforms by way of video and written blogs; and in doing so, we hope to create a sense of shared experience and community as well as inform and educate a wider audience.

There are many ways for you to get involved:

  • Join our JIA-at-NRAS community by sharing with us your stories and experience of living with JIA and will post these on our website and across our social media platforms. For more information, email us at jia@nras.org.uk
  • Share your own videos on your own social media accounts with the hashtags #ThisIsJIA and #JIAAW2024 and tag us at JIA-at-NRAS
  • Share, like, comment our JIA AW posts throughout the week to get #ThisIsJIA trending!
