JIA Awareness Week 2026

13th –17th July 2026

This JIA Awareness Week, we’re shining a light on the emotional realities of living with and supporting someone living with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) by sharing the powerful lived experiences of some of our incredible community members.

JIA Awareness Week was launched in 2022 to raise awareness of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis by educating and informing families, friends, schools, healthcare professionals and the wider public about what JIA is and the impact it can have on children, young people and their families. Each year, our community comes together to challenge misconceptions, increase understanding and ensure that no child or young person feels alone.

This year, we’ll be following the story of one remarkable young person, Gertie, and her mum, Lindsey, as they share what life with JIA really looks like for them. Through their experiences, we’ll explore the reality of diagnosis, treatment, school, friendships, family life and the emotional impact of living with a lifelong condition.

Their story offers an honest insight into the challenges they face every day, while also celebrating the resilience, determination and strength that exists throughout the JIA community.
