Wear Purple at School, Hospital or in your Workplace!

#WearPurpleForJIA at NRAS and get your friends, family and colleagues involved by asking them to support the cause by letting everyone Wear Purple clothing.

• Order your FREE Wear Purple pack, take it into your school, nursery, rheumatology team or workplace to get them involved and agree to taking part.
• Spread the word by asking for it to be added to the school newsletter or sent via email to parent contacts and work colleagues. 
• Ask everyone to donate £2 or a suitable donation on the day.
• Order your official merchandise here!

Organise a Purple Bake Sale

Hosting a Purple Bake Sale with your friends, family and work colleagues can be great fun, with delicious fairy cakes and cookies for everyone, and plenty of purple icing and decorations!

Plan your Purple Bake sale

1. Ask permission to hold a bake sale at your school, hospital or workplace.
2. Advertise your Bake Sale using the posters provided in the Fundraising pack or by sending photocopied leaflets home with your classmates.
3. Get everyone baking and donating cakes and cookies to sell on the day. 
4. If you are holding a Bake Sale make sure you clearly price your cakes and cookies.
5. Ensure all items baked or donated are clearly labelled for allergen advice.
6. Decorate your tables with your balloons and stickers and put out your collection boxes on the day.
7. Ensure you have enough help on the day of the Bake Sale and have some bags for people to take away their purchases. 

Hold a Purple Crazy Hair Day

Add to your Wear Purple day by having a Purple Crazy Hair Day too! A great excuse to try out some (temporary!) purple hair dye, hair bobbles and accessories or a new ‘do’!

Host a Purple Party

Who doesn’t love a Disco and the chance to bust some moves to their favourite tunes?? You could get creative with some purple decorations, purple food, even UV purple lights and glow sticks! Ask your friends to donate to join the fun!

Take on our Purple Gunge Challenge!

Could your School, Health Centre or Workplace take on the Purple Gunge Challenge to spread awareness and raise funds for the 10,000+ young people under 16 in the UK living with arthritis?

Who would YOU choose to Gunge? Your teachers, sports coach, rheumatology team or work colleagues?

In order to take part in the Purple Gunge Challenge, all you need to do is:

1. Order your FREE Purple Gunge* and Wear Purple pack via the link below.
2. Persuade 2 or more people to sit in the Gunge-Seat!
3. Collect donations for each of the people – either online or in collection jars!
4. The Person with the most donations gets GUNGED on 23rd May 2025 – or any date that suits you before 30th September 2025!

*We have 50 FREE packs of purple gunge to give away, in return for a minimum pledge of £100.

More Ideas to #WearPurple at Work

No matter how big or small your company, there are several ways you can support #WearPurpleforJIA. With a charity partnership or charity event, you, your company and your colleagues can help to raise vital awareness of JIA and help to support children and young people in the UK who live with the condition and rely on NRAS for support.

To help publicise your event you could change your email signature temporarily to include information on the fundraising activity.

Your HR department will know if the company operates a “matched giving” policy so the funds you raise could be doubled!

How to Pay in your Funds

There are different ways you can pay in the funds you have raised from your #WearPurpleForJIA fundraising activities.

Set up a JustGiving page to easily collect donations online. Instructions are below. Any donations collected via JustGiving will come directly to us.

If you collect cash, the easiest thing is to pay it into your own account at the bank or post office and then pay the funds in online by clicking on the link here and selecting ‘Pay in Funds’. You can also send a cheque. Further details are below.

All cheques need to be made out to NRAS, and sent to our office in Maidenhead. So please ensure your school or workplace has this information if they are taking part.
